We arrested Vinod Kumar, his brother, Raju, and cousin Ashok Kumar, and seized a huge quantity of chemicals, firecrackers and partially-made crackers from their houses.
Vipin Tada, Amroha superintendent of police, said, “We conducted raids at several places on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, three houses were raided in Holiwala mohalla. According to police, the raids are being conducted in view of the upcoming Dussehra and Diwali festivals and to prevent another Etah-like situation. A probe revealed that 13 people had died in a blast at a unit operated by the same family in 1980. A large quantity of crackers and chemicals worth Rs 3 lakh was seized from their premises. On Monday, three members of a family were arrested for illegally manufacturing and storing crackers in their residences in the congested Holiwala mohalla under Hasanpur police station area.
BIJNOR: Following the recent blast in a firecracker unit in Etah that claimed six lives, Amroha police has stepped up raids on illegal units.
